Community Guidelines
Berojgari is a place for Nepalis — in Nepal and abroad — to share what they think, feel, experience, and learn without needing to build a public identity. These are the rules that keep the community useful and safe.
By using Berojgari you agree to follow these guidelines. Breaking them can lead to a warning, content removal, temporary restrictions, or a ban.
The one big idea
Identity stays private. Experience gets shared.
You are anonymous here. That freedom exists so you can speak honestly about hard things — unemployment, mental health, work abroad, mistakes, questions you would not ask in public. It does not exist so you can hurt people.
What is welcome
- Sharing your real experiences — good, bad, ordinary
- Asking questions, even ones that feel embarrassing
- Answering questions honestly, from your own experience
- Advice for people preparing to go abroad
- Ideas for improving Nepal
- Kind, constructive disagreement
- Posting in Nepali, English, or a mix — all are welcome
- Discussing sensitive topics (mental health, money, relationships, failure) with care
What is not allowed
1. Harassment and targeted abuse
Do not attack, threaten, insult, or intimidate a specific person, whether another Berojgari user or someone in the real world. This includes:
- Personal insults directed at another user
- Repeated unwanted contact
- Coordinated pile-ons
- Threats of violence or harm
2. Hate
No content that dehumanizes or attacks people based on caste, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.
Discussing caste, religion, or social issues thoughtfully is welcome. Attacking people because of who they are is not.
3. Doxxing and privacy violations
Never post or reveal:
- Real names, photos, phone numbers, addresses, or workplaces of any person — including yourself if it exposes another person, and including public figures where the information is not already widely public
- Screenshots that identify a private individual
- Information that could reasonably lead to someone being identified, harassed, or harmed offline
If you post something about yourself that reveals your identity, we cannot restore your anonymity. Think before you post.
4. Sexual content
- No sexual content involving minors, ever. This will result in immediate ban and a report to authorities.
- No non-consensual sexual imagery.
- No sexual harassment of other users.
- Discussion of sexual health, safety, or personal experiences in a mature and non-graphic way is allowed.
5. Violence
- No credible threats of violence against any person or group.
- No glorification or promotion of terrorism, mass violence, or hate movements.
- Discussion of violence in the news, personal experiences with violence, or reflection on conflict is allowed.
6. Self-harm and suicide
We take this seriously. If you are struggling, please reach out to a helpline (docs/COMMUNITY_GUIDELINES.md will list Nepali and international resources).
- Do not encourage self-harm or suicide.
- Do not share methods.
- Sharing your own experience with care, especially with hopeful framing or resources, is welcome and important.
7. Illegal activity
Do not use Berojgari to plan, promote, or coordinate illegal activity. Discussing legal-gray topics (immigration difficulties, workplace issues, corruption) is welcome — planning crimes is not.
8. Spam, scams, and manipulation
- No repetitive posting of the same content
- No unsolicited promotional posts, referral links, or "get rich quick" schemes
- No fake giveaways, phishing, or fraud
- No coordinated inauthentic behavior — running multiple accounts to push a viewpoint, Pushes, or reports
9. Impersonation
Do not impersonate specific real people, organizations, or other Berojgari users. Anonymous does not mean pretending to be someone else.
10. Misinformation that causes harm
- Do not present dangerous medical, legal, financial, or immigration misinformation as fact.
- Sharing personal experience is welcome; presenting your experience as universal expert advice is not.
- We do not fact-check every opinion, but content that could cause direct harm (fake medicine, immigration scams, false safety information) will be removed.
11. Off-platform harm
Content that could reasonably lead to harm outside the platform — like doxxing, coordinated harassment campaigns, or organizing off-platform attacks — is not allowed, even if the content itself looks mild.
How to use Push
Push means *"this is worth moving forward — worth seeing, worth discussing"*. It is not a Like. Do not Push content:
- Just to be nice to your friend
- To game trending
- On your own posts using another account
Push counts are not a status symbol. We deliberately do not rank users by Pushes received.
How to comment well
- Respond to what the person actually said, not what you imagine they meant.
- Disagreement is fine. Contempt is not.
- If someone is asking for advice, answer if you have real experience. If you do not, sometimes the best comment is none.
- Ask questions to understand, not to trap.
Reporting content
If you see something that breaks these rules, use Report. A moderator will review it.
- We keep reports confidential. The person you report is not told who reported them.
- We do not tell you what specific action was taken. Report anyway — we track patterns.
- Do not use reports as a weapon. False or malicious reports may lead to restrictions on your account.
Blocking
If someone is bothering you and no rule is broken, use Block. They cannot interact with you directly, and their content is hidden from you.
Appealing an action
If we took an action against your content or account and you think we got it wrong, use the appeal link in the notification. A different moderator will review it. Decision within 7 days.
Country tags and location
Country tags are optional. Do not share your exact location, workplace, school, or address — even if you are proud of it. Anonymity works only if you do not break it yourself.
Language
Post in Nepali, English, or a mix. All are welcome. Content is moderated equally in every language.
Consequences
Depending on severity:
| Action | What it means |
|---|---|
| Warning | We notice; nothing removed |
| Content removed | The specific post/comment is hidden |
| Temporary restriction | You cannot post or comment for a set time |
| Suspension | Account disabled for days or weeks |
| Ban | Account permanently disabled |
Very severe violations (threats, sexual abuse imagery, doxxing) skip straight to ban.
A note on hard topics
Berojgari exists because there are things Nepalis need to talk about — unemployment, working abroad, mental health, family pressure, failure, mistakes — that are hard to say with your name attached. Talk about them here. Ask for help. Share what worked. Share what did not.
This is not a place for likes and clean lives. It is a place for real ones.
